June 2026 Update on Lead and Copper Exceedance

Samples in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 show that the changes made have significantly reduced lead and copper levels in tap water. At this point, the concerns with lead and copper have been largely addressed.

The treatment has lowered the lead and copper levels; they have also allowed more iron and manganense to be present in drinking water. Iron and manganese can cause the water to be discolored but do not pose a health concern. The pre-treatment which will be installed in early 2027 will address the iron and manganese.

There are additional faucet filters and additional cartridges available to Amboy residents at city hall.

The report with graphs is available on the website under the Mayor/Council tab. You would have also received this update in your June 2026 utility bills.
